My Submission:
If I were to jump, who would care?
Sure, my dad might,
And maybe my girlfriend.
But, no one else,
Right?
Potentially my mom,
My best friend,
My daughter.
But, no one else,
Right?
My buddy at work might shed a tear,
My friends from college.
But, no one else,
Right?
The people on the street wouldn’t care,
They don’t even know me.
If I were to jump, who would care?
My grandmother,
My aunts and uncles,
Nieces and nephews,
My therapist?
I’m sure my ex’s would celebrate,
Right?
If I were to jump, who would care,
Besides them…

You’ve given a very important message Sara. If only people thought about those who love them, they may not take this extreme step. Thanks for joining in

I greatly appreciate that, Sadje. Unfortunately, this touches close to home. The repercussions are monumental, and greatly affects EVERYONE …”What could I have done”, “Is there something I should have said”, “Is this my fault?”, “Why didn’t I recognize this?” Very sad to think anyone can feel so alone and hopeless that they would choose something so drastic and final 😦

A wise poem. Nobody is an island, and your poem is an effective reminder of that. We’re connected to many, many people.

Many of us care, including me.🙂 This is good timing for this poem. There has been a rise in the number of people with depression as a result of being alone and indoors due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

I really feel for those who are struggling. I’m sure it was hard enough before…
