Sunday Whirl Wordle #491 – Trip of a Lifetime

The cover photo and generals details of my submission is from my actual trip to Iceland in 2017 with my parents and a family friend. To say it was the trip of a lifetime is a gross understatement. is my Mom 🙂

The Words:

My Submission 🙂

During her trip to Iceland, she met travelers from all around the world. It was rare to find someone who could speak her language. Communication often consisted of a warm smile, shrugs, and awkward giggles.

Some had come for education, others to play, and many made the trip simply to sit in the natural hot springs and heal from hurt. But, all had the same basic plan: experience something new and fresh. Although everyone’s future was as unique as Iceland’s landscape, they shared one thing…an untethered itch for nature, in its purest form…sun, snow, volcanos, geysers, caves, glaciers, lagoons, ocean views, and wildlife, combined with rich history.

She assumed she’d brought enough clothes, until the wind whipped her nose and chilled her bones. Fortunately, she’d rented an RV. There was a clear divide between residing in an enclosed space with heat, and those struggling to pin their tents before the vicious wind swept it away. She would sit at her table and stare out the window at those poor souls, wondering if she should offer assistance or invite them inside for a mug of hot cocoa.

Every camping spot was a hostel, of sorts, with shared amenities such as a bathroom, kitchen, and common space with electricity and WIFI.

Sometimes, it was challenging to find a clear signal, but when she did, she immediately texted her loved ones back at home and let them know she was not only okay, but having the time of her life in one of the most spectacular and purest places on the planet.

  2. That was a great photo to choose and your words were beautifully presented to share about this trip.
    I especially liked this line:

Some had come for education, others to play, and many made the trip simply to sit in the natural hot springs and heal from hurt.

feel like I could write a story with that as a prompt – but it also surmised so much about what we humans often experience

    1. These photos are standouts, for sure! I couldn’t believe my eyes…”Is this reality?!” I felt like I was on another planet. It was so peaceful. They didn’t move. The only movement came from the small boats, gently gliding between. Thank you for your comments, and I would be thrilled if it inspired any sort of writing!
