Today’s word – MESMERIZING
My Submission 🙂
Legs like a stag, fire engine red lips, segmented hair coiled into tight springs. She was a sight to behold, mesmerizing. Her pout lips would part just enough to politely sip her martini. All eyes were on her, but her eyes were on me.
Do I approach her, send another martini with extra olives, sit back and wait for her to make the first move?
I was never popular, the dorky smart one that girls never considered more than a friend. I wouldn’t even know what to do with a woman like her. Sure, I’ve grown since then, but my confidence is trapped in the insecurities of my adolescence.
She walks by, graceful and elegant. With a slight smile, she slips a folded napkin on my table and continues toward the washroom.
When I open it, my stomach bounds into my chest. It reads, “I remember you from high school, always so kind to everyone. Fate seems to have brought us together. Call me, please.”
Her phone number was written beneath, followed by the name I knew her by, “Band geek, Maria.”
