From Afar

“Time to go, sweetheart,” his wife said. “I’ve packed you snacks, and dinner, just in case,” she winked. “Is there anything else you need?”

He shook his head and grabbed the bag. Nothing could disguise the smile stretched across his face. 

“Better hurry,” she said with a coy smirk, “only eight hours left.”

With a loving touch, she planted a sweet kiss to his cheek.

Although she’d miss him, she knew nothing brought her husband more joy than sitting at that same picnic table, listening to kids scream in terror and delight as they rode the roller coaster he designed.
