Friday Fictioneers Photo Prompt – 100 words

Here is my submission to the prompt:

I see you there

Lurking in the bushes

Watching me

The kitchen window gives you the best view

The one window without curtains

I like the natural sunlight as I cook

Scrub the dishes clean

Little did I know

It invited your eyes in too

You don’t really bother me

You keep to yourself

Stay quiet, enough

But, I can’t help wonder what you’re thinking

As you watch me

You’re there, every evening

As the sun begins to set

Is there a reason why you watch me with such an unfaltering gaze

Do owls even have the capability to blink?

Please visit, https://rochellewisoff.com/2020/10/21/23-october-2020/ for the original challenge.

  1. Yes, I’d say they do… swear I’ve seen it a few times. Great story… I expected a spectral visitor, or a “peeping tom”, but you’ve done this very well! 🙂 ❤

  2. Lovely. I particularly like the way your story turns from being almost menacing to a warm happy feeling. i have some robins in my garden and they bounce around waiting and enticing me, I am now trained to provide them their daily food..

    1. Interesting, I didn’t know that! I used to live in a farmhouse, and every night an owl would perch on the fence outside our kitchen window, just staring inside. He did it for almost a year! Makes me wonder what his message was?!
