50 Words Thursday # 93

My submission, 100 words, based on a true story lol:

A wasp just stung me
Can you tell who I am
That I’m writhing in pain
I’m on the promenade
Just there
The woman who had a glorious day
Bringing her baby to the ocean for the first time
We saw fish
Tasted salt water
Watched the boats sway with the breeze
Do you see me
Holding my baby with my throbbing arm
I was trying to create memories
Have the perfect day
Then
I was stung
By the ultimate party pooper
He could have minded his business
But instead
He stung me
And now, my perfect day is ruined

Keep it alive

    1. Josh and I had taken Charlie to Fort Rod Hill (a historical site in Victoria BC, Canada), and we walked out to the lighthouse, dipped Charlie’s tiny toes in the ocean for the first time. But, on our way back, I was stung on my arm…a vicious one. Very painful, lots of swelling. That photo immediately reminded me of the path leading to the lighthouse. Yes, wasp PTSD for sure, although I am braver than I once was. I was fighting with that wasp to keep it away from my baby. My personal fears took a back seat to “saving my child” lol
